I would be interested in your estimate as to how many people fleeing this represents. It seems to me that air transportation does not have a lot of slack built in and that a relatively small influx of travellers above normal could produce those results.

I'm curious about whether you have seen the extensive series of Russian man-in-the-street interviews by the group 1420 on YouTube. They upset some of my ideas about the extent to which Russians are afraid to express their views. The producers are openly anti-Putin, but surprisingly large numbers of people are willing to talk to them on camera (usually nervously).

A future battle will be whether other nations re establish commercial and diplomatic relations with Russia (such as Germany). It is hard to imagine going back to normal relations in commerce and travel. But dont think the loony left won't propose this. And the right wingers in the US who right now, believe it or not, are saying all the money going to the Ukraine military should be spent on

American citizens' needs....as if the right wing gives a flying f--k about helping the poor. Even ghastly Glenn Greenwald proposed this! I kid you not. Watch the founding liberals like The Nation and DSA fumble around to say they are anti war but......but.....they still claim that American imperialism is the case of the war. For them every conflict in the world is a result of American imperialism.
